Hypnosis FAQs
I am an experienced and professional hypnotherapist. I provide an ethical and professional service for clients to feel safe and valued. I have tried to address the most common questions but please contact me if there is anything further you wish to know.

Hypnosis is perfectly safe. You are always in control and can open your eyes whenever you want. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can work with light trance so you will still be aware of where you are and what you’re doing, be able to hear the sounds outside the room, have a conversation and drift off into your thoughts. Our minds are more receptive to positive suggestions when in trance and I will use this state to prime your unconscious towards the goals that you have chosen. Using Cognitive Hypnotherapy techniques when in this state is extremely powerful and can make positive change in a relatively short time.

Trance is different for different people but in general your body relaxes and it is a pleasant feeling. Some people say it feels like the time between when you’re asleep and fully awake. Often your senses are heightened and you may be more aware of what’s going on around you.
-
It is not possible to be stuck in trance. You can open your eyes or get up when you want to as you will always be in control. You cannot be made to say or do anything you do not want to.

In the first meeting is a free consultation which is around 30 – 60 minutes where we will get to know each other and you can explain your issue so I have all the information I need and ask any questions you may have. The first session will be designed for you using the information you have given me and we will work together using a variety of techniques, some involving light trance. After the session I will offer a personalised recording to consolidate the work we have done together for you to listen to between sessions. Clients often find this useful in facilitating the change they want.

Most clients get the results they want but I can’t guarantee results because everyone is different. I act as a guide so the hypnosis is self hypnosis; you have control and are responsible for your own success. I will guarantee that I will do my best to help and support in getting the solution you want. All you need to do is be open and commit to the process.
-
It’s difficult to estimate how many sessions you will need as everyone is different. I aim to give you value for money and often people see a positive effect quite early on. After the first consultation I will have a better idea of what’s involved and will be able to suggest how many sessions you may need.
-
There are no harmful side effects. You may find that you sleep well after our sessions and after you listen to the recording I give you as the brain is processing the work we have done.
-
Cognitive Hypnotherapy can work on a wide range of issues. If however, you or I don’t think I will be able to help you during our first session there will be no charge.
